Why Vicuña is so rare.
Vicuñas live wild in the Andes and cannot be domesticated like other fiber animals. They produce only a small amount of usable fiber, gathered through careful, traditional practices. Scarcity is not a claim — it is simply the nature of the animal and the land.
Vicuña is a protected species. Authentic Vicuña products offered by Altiplano are sourced through legal, traceable and responsible supply chains, compliant with applicable CITES requirements and local regulations. Provenance information accompanies every piece where available.
